Jac's One and Only Restaurant Review

I'm not saying it's the best breakfast sandwich EVER, because ever hasn't happened yet, but so far... the award goes to Allison's Country Cafe. Now, I don't eat there often (only once before this morning) because I am against "home town snobbery" and all my grown-up life I have heard people name drop about the owners of Allisons, and whoop-dee-doo, I went to high school with so and so, and all the native Venturans eat there, and yada yada yada. It's kind of like "trendy" in reverse. Anyway, I gave my mom a ride to the hospital this morning and my awesome daughter in law, Kristi, came too. Then, when there was nothing to do but wait, we decided to eat breakfast out. Allisons is near the hospital so... you get the idea.

Here's the rundown: Egg, Bacon (Kristi had turkey sausage) Cheese, Tomatoe, real Avocado, very thinly sliced Red Onion on a , GET THIS, freshly made flaky warm biscuit roll! Roll over McMuffin, Allison's is in town!

If I were you, I'd give it a try! Really friendly people in there, too!

Comments:
P.S. All the cool locals go there! ;-)

Allsions is great. Some of the best breakfast I have ever had, other than the breakfasts my parents and wife prepare of course.

Apparently you guys haven't tried the Carl's Jr. breakfast burger yet.

You mean "heart attack on a plate", Jared? :-)
It was really a perfect breakfast sandwich. Thanks jacrabbit for taking me there!

i saw the carl's jr. breakfast burger once in person. i hope to never have to go through that again.

WOWZA!

I understood you, Martha. I was just curious about the nutritional content of one of those mega breakfast burgers so I looked it up online. I was so shocked I thought I would share with the class.

in my response about the carls jr breakfast burger was only talking about the stuff that ooooooozes out from between all that stuff they put in it. it looks creepy. plus the idea of hasbrowns sandwiched between a hamburgur bun seems yukky to me. nutrition? uhhh. oh yeah. that's what i'm all about. hee hee.

I don't think there's anything that oozes out other than ketchup, according to what I remember and the ingredients posted here.

As for the health aspect of it, I highly doubt that the Allison's sandwich is the healthiest thing in the world either. There is a difference between healthy food and food that tastes good; they occasionally overlap, but not usually.

If you are eating any particular meal at Carl's (or Allison's for that matter), healthy food probably isn't your top priority.

I was going to bring up the Corrales breakfast burritos as well (to go along with the theme of cheap food that tastes good - which is what I was going for with the Carl's reference, implying that Allison's probably costs about twice as much), but that's probably not too healthy either.

What's not healthy about onions, avacado, tomato, turkey sausage, and a biscuit, with a fruit salad on the side? I beg to differ with you Jared. (Please let me differ! Ppppllleeeesssseeee!!!)

but you sure can't beat scrambled tofu and a nice cold glass of metamucil. now that's breakfast. good and good for you!

Tofu is yummy! Not so sure 'bout the metamucil though.

I'm just guessing that the biscuit was not exactly fat free, and you still have the eggs and cheese, just like the Carl's one. I guess the turkey sausage is probably healthier than the burger part of the Carl's one.

Anyway, I guess I was just saying that my original point was about taste rather than health, since that's what I thought the "best breakfast sandwich ever" was referring to. If it's "healthiest breakfast sandwich", then that's another story.

Since when do I eat cheese? never. The biscuit, although it did contain flour and butter I'm sure, the cook there at Allison's probably did fry it in lard like Carl's Jr. Eggs are healthy. They have good protein in them, and are good for you in moderation. That sandwich at Allisons was down right good. You could actually taste what you wereeating, unlike that lard-drenched concoction that Jr's has. Healthy can be good too.
