I'm A Kingdomist Now

OK. In light of a few discussions I've had lately, I've been re-thinking my social system/structure leanings. You know, capitalism, socialism, marxism, etc. Then I looked up the terms "Kingdom of God", "Kingdom of Heaven" and "My Father's Kingdom" in my concordance, and I found that Jesus Himself spoke of this subject 120 recorded times in the Gospels. In fact it seems that proclaiming the Kingdom of God is why He came to earth! I think I'll spend a lot more time studying Kingdomism and not so much worrying about the other systems.

Comments:
Why, thank you so much. Do you like the way I "bold" my title? Or is it the way I attempt to use proper grammar? Anyway, thanks for the compliment. It's so very kind of you. I think I will click on your little blue sign that says "web hosting" right about the same time that hell freezes over. God Bless You!

I like your last comment there. Funny. Well...I'm not trying to sell you on "web hosting." But I did want to tell you that I literally (minutes ago) just finished an amazing book about the Kingdom of God. It's called The Gospel of the Kingdom by Gordon Eldon Ladd. It has totally changed my view of church, the Bible, Jesus, etc. I happened to do a google blog search for "Kingdom of God" and your blog came up. Anyway, just thought you might be intersted. Have a good one!

Sorry, mirrorman. I'm pretty cynical these days when I see an anonymous post. I usually just trash them, but I thought I would be funny and make all my friends laugh. Backfired! I checked out your blog and I love what you have to share!

Hey, everyone. Meet mirrorman! He's a real person, I think.

I look forward to reading the book by Gordon Eldon Ladd. And I LOVE the books by John Eldredge! (you mentioned one in your blog) looks like you might be a youth pastor or something like that. Cool. Would love to hear more from you.

Awww...Ma ma J just made a friend.

I've put away the Christian books for now and am trying to reread the entire New Testament. Right now, I'm on Titus. All I can say is WOW! There is so much stuff that I'm learning this time around that I just did not "get" before. God does speak to us through different scripture.
I was surprised how many times Jesus did use phrases concerning the Kingdom of Heaven. It's like he was saying "Hey people of mine! I'm trying to get my point across on the Kingdom of Heaven! Now listen!".

Actually mother, the anonymous post and the mirrorman post are completely seperate. You were correct in being cynical about the anonymous post. You should try clicking on that "little blue sign." Actually, it's really unnecessary since you already know it is a waste of your time. How's that for Kingdomism? Boo-yaa.

Yeah. Kristi already set me right on this issue. Sorry again, mirrorman for mistaking you for anonymous, and to you anonymous, back to what I said before.

It's great being a techno-dolt. You learn to take constructive criticism well, cause you have to listen to it all the time.

Well, back to the subject of my blog.

I guess I would consider myself a "kingdomist" as well; the challenge is how to live as a "kingdomist" in (and be a part of) a culture that is "under" a different system.

I used to be of the frame of mind that being a strict "Kingdomist" meant that I didn't have to concern myself with anything else that was going on in society (in terms of government, etc), but I've since come to believe that I was wrong then.

Of course, we should definitely live with a Kingdom mentality and perspective, but the life Jesus lived was one that was immersed in his culture ("in", not "of" it), and I think his call to us to do the same involves occasionally interacting with those other systems in whatever manner may present itself.

True, but it's interesting to note, that historically, it seems that the "Kingdom" thrives best when the current government is furthest away from Kingdom ideals. And by "thrives" I mean that Kingdom People live more in accordance with Kingdom Principles. (Faith, Hope, Love)

Not that I would ask for a bad government in an effort to see Kingdom Rule, but it does seem to go that way.

Also, I'm thinking that speaking to and ministering to the people of the current culture is different than attempting to change the governing body. I see Jesus PROCLAIMING the Kingdom, touching people and effecting the culture, but I don't think he took any time working on changing the government of the day.

I'm just talking off the top of my head here, and I haven't put alot of serious thought into political activism. I don't think it's wrong to be involved in politics as long as our governmental framework allows it. And I do, think people should stand up for Kingdom Principles, especially here in America while it's still legal.
